One of the studios I teach at is next door to a small, white building that local police use to practice things like raids. Today, the area around the white building was filled with military personnel, preparing for whatever it is they were going to practice today. And I couldn't help but be entranced with this reality: here I was, in my yoga get-up and sunshiny yoga smile, ready to teach a gentle flow where I will prattle on about acceptance and ease and peace -- and here they were, quite literally preparing for the worst. All within a stone's throw of each other.
Life, man. Life. And I don't even need to be on drugs to be in awe of things like this.
